Shopper Bus

‘BATS’ are working with Bexley Council to provide a Food Accessibility Scheme for the Bexley borough. The aim of the service is to provide eldery or disabled individuals, or parents with young children access to supermarkets and shops. The service started in the summer of 2007 and benefits the following client groups:

Elderly people

Disabled people

Parents with children under the age of 5

The service will operate between 9am and 5pm, 5 days per week and will provide transport to local supermarkets, fresh food outlets and will include special trips to farmers markets on selected days. Pick ups and drop offs will be made from designated collection points within the local area.

If you have severe mobility problems and require some assistance with your shopping there may be a volunteer shopper available to help you, please contact the office for further information.

The scheme operates on a member’s only basis with annual membership costing £15.00. Journeys must be pre-paid, with tickets available for purchase at a cost of £5.00 for 10 tickets (50p each way) from the BATS office. The driver will not accept cash or sell tickets on the bus.

For further details or to join this new service please contact Pam at BATS.
